Hey Tara, tell us a little more about who you have worked with in the past and your role at Thomas PR Group:
I am the founder of Thomas PR Group and I have taken on many projects with both well-known and upcoming clients over the years within my company. I am the assistant to MTV Winner ‘Creepa’ (From GS to Gents) and have also worked with Smike from Field Mob, Zaytoven, Sylvia Thomas (cousin to Tyler Perry),Dame Grease, Tony Mercedes, Scott Parker, Yung Wun, and Yung Berg – to name but a few of my recent clients. I am a beast at this pr work!
That sounds great! So I hear you are also linked to Slawta Houze Produkshunz?
Tell me more about this and why you set it up:
Yes Slawta Houze Produkshunz was founded by my ex husband in 2002, based in Atlanta Georgia. Slawta Houze Produkshunz was set up to provide a vehicle for unsigned artists to have their craft reviewed, exposed and to create the possibility of them having doors opened to them in the music industry. Partnering with dozens of experts in a variety of media related fields allowed Slawta Houze Produkshunz to offer premium services to our clients and effectively promote their individual artists.
Fantastic, we love your vision! So how did you get into PR?
My start in the music industry was one that happened by both chance and I’d say the God given gift of gab that she possesses. “I started doing this when my husband was in a group called Slupi, and then he formed Slawta Houze. At that point I was working at the ATL int’l airport were I passed CDs to Andre 3000, Bob Baldwin, Clifton Powell and Larry Jackson, to name a few. I then met Cool, from Cool and DRE, and he told me that I was good at talking to people. From there I started to research the industry more and ended up making a great contact with the manager of recording artist Trick Daddy. From there it all seemed to fall into place quite easily. I’ve never had a problem getting to anyone that I have really tried to speak with.”
Wow, this all sound amazing and very productive! So how do the artists, artist management, labels and individuals who read this blog get in touch with you?
