Today at Cats Recording Studios - The Blog we review an international indie -pop artist by the name of Dorine Levy - a multi-talented singer, songwriter and producer who is all about being different and delivering key messages through her self-penned, self-produced music.
Dorine Levy's current single 'Salvation' was written, composed and produced by Dorine herself and is inspired by Israel's Memorial Day. When asked why she wrote the track Dorine says:
“It’s a day of remembrance of soldiers who lost their lives during their military service.” .
We love the universal message that is spread through 'Salvation' and although the song alone took us a few plays to get into, it DEFINITELY grew on us. This was, we think, directly owing to the journey of discovery that you go through when watching the unusual and refreshingly unique video for the song. As a whole - once we had watched the minimalistic black and white video, had taken in the lyrics completely and had seen just how much creative effort went into the whole project - we gave the whole thing a thumbs up!
In the video you see overlapping images flashing across the very beautiful, 'model-like' face of Dorine Levy. There are many controversial images coming up throughout the video including images of politicians, the working class, drugs and fighting scenes. The words and images featured in the song and the video will mean an infinite number of things to an infinite number of people; and it is clear to us that this artist has found her form of salvation in music.
Dorine's influences include Pink Floyd, Depeche Mode, Jimi Hendrix, Duran Duran, Bob Marley, Telephone and many more. Her highly anticipated debut full length album will be preceded by her forthcoming EP, including a very unique take on the Spin Doctors' hit "two princes", accompanied by a video clip that was well received all over the world.
