This Sunday gone it was sad to hear that Rodney King was found dead by his fiancee in the bottom of a swimming pool at their home in the early hours of the morning. Reported by Los Angeles Times, sgt. Paul Stella reported that King's fiancee called the police at 5:25am and said she found King at the bottom of his pool, they attempted CPR but King was pronounced dead later on.
Rodney King was a key figure in the 1992 Los Angeles Riots when he was subject to extreme police brutality, captured on video tape and shown across the world and sparking the biggest and most violent riots Los Angeles has ever seen. King, was later found to have just been pulling over in his car having committed no crime, and was the victim of a racist attack by numerous officers as he lay on the floor defenceless (video below)

King, before he died released the book "The Riot Within - my journey from rebellion to redemption" , he died at just 47 years young. R.I.P Rodney King.
It is sad to say that racism and police brutality still very much exist today in our society, not just in America but again worldwide and here in the UK, and although this incident in Rodney Kings life did raise a lot of awareness, questions and work towards solutions to this mess, we still have a way to go. It's a crying shame - this footage still gets to me and always will. The full length video can be found on youtube - I decided not to post it here as it is just too much for some to watch casually on a Monday morning... it will ruin your whole month.
